~.~.~. CHOOSE WISELY ~ A STRATEGIC WALKTHROUGH .~.~.~ This walkthrough helps the player with riddles and key decisions of the game. It is meant to assist playing the game itself. With it you should have the solution to all riddles and be able to reach the end of the game smoothly. It is recommended to use it only if you are stuck, as it might spoil the many twists this game has. ~.~.~ Before getting started ~.~.~ 01. Pick a mode that suits your playing style: * Story if you don't like fighting. * Easy/Normal if you don't want to be bothered too much by strategy. * Hard if you like strategy and saving as often as you want. * Maniac if you want a hard and stressful games, as you have few save point. 02. Maniac rewards you for your bravery with an extra equipment from the beginning. ~.~.~ FIRST AREA ~.~.~ 1st Room (??????) 01. Check the door. 02. Check the wardrobe. 03. Check the door again. 04. Check the lever that appeared. 05. McDeath or Lyria? Both are interesting. 06. There is a secret door toward the bottom/right part of the room (check the different indentation). 2nd Room (Frosty Temple) 01. Killing optional enemies is left to the player's decision. 02. Open all treasure chests. 03. There is a secret door toward the bottom/right part of the room (check the crack in the floor). 04. Equip the Sanity Ring on a character to avoid getting confused by the bats. 3rd Room (Frosty Underground) 01. Push the boulder on the different tile in the bottom/left sub-room. 02. Go back up and go through the gate. 4th Room (Botanic Garden) 01. Slimes are weak to ice. You can get Ice Pills to damage them faster. 02. Check the lever to the bottom/right: it disables the spikes for the top/left part. 03. Go to the top/left part. There, check the tombstone and the wall flowers. You'll get 3 Ice Boxes in the tombstone. 04. Use permanent items on important characters especially in harder modes. 05. Climb the rope on the top/right. To defeat the 3 slimes, especially in difficult modes, you may want to use the some of your Ice Boxes. 5th Room (??????) 01. Kill the orc. 02. It's susceptible to fire or ice pills. 03. Pull down the rope. 04. Go down and go through the gate. 6th Room (Lion Room) 01. Check the braziers for items. These items respawn if you die. 02. Get all the pills from the braziers especially the ice pills. 03. Attack the lion. His first shape isn't too difficult. Have Mihaela boost herself using EDGE, or your best attacker if she has EDGE LV. 04. When the lion gets all fired up, have the fastest character use an ice pill EACH TURN to keep its MAT low (it also inflicts substantial damage). 05. Use Mihaela's Edge to boost herself (or the best attacker), then she can attack with higher ATK. 06. Spamming ice pills is a good way to get rid of the lion. 07. Don't use Lyria's Acid spell if you have her, as the lion is resistant to it. 7th Room (Small Chapel) 01. Talk to Oksana and get a full healing up from her. 02. Check the key opening next to the angel statue toward the top. 03. You need a key from Oksana. Kill her as it'll give you extra EXP. 04. Use the key on the key opening next to the angel, then go to the locked gate downstairs. 05. Check the statue lit by candles. 06. It says something about "communism". 07. Go upstairs and check the icon of a ruler to the left of the angel statue. ~.~.~ SECOND AREA (AFTER OKSANA) ~.~.~ 8th Room (Long Corridor) 01. Nothing to do here except for a secret door visible looking carefully at the red carpet (one bit is missing). 9th Room (Bridge Room) 01. Guide Ariel to the level. 02. The only difficulty is not to rush and make a mistake. Take your time and it'll be easy. 03. Remember each "direction" provided is relative to the position of Ariel's sprite. It's for example on HER left, depending on how she is oriented. 10th Room (Museum) 01. Check the armor statue (by the top wall) that is not aligned like the others. 02. Explore downstairs for some extra items. The Soldier's Acolyte protects from Paralyzed which the Anacondas sometimes inflict. 11th Room (Fountain Room) 01. There is an Orc Lord blocking the way. Steel Corrosions damage them well, and decrease their defense, which is impossible otherwise. 02. Talk to the Witch, then kill her. You'll get the Museum Key. 03. Against many slimes, it's good to use an Ice Box. 04. Do not miss the secret door towards the bottom (the different tile indicates where the opening is). 05. Go back upstairs. 06. Go through the door to the top/right (unlocked by checking the armor statue). 12th Room (Guest Hall) 01. Use the Museum Key to unlock the door. 02. Check the braziers, crates, barrels etc. A lot of stuff to be found in this place. 13th Room (Study Room) 01. The wizard in the room can be killed. It's, however, optional. 02. Go downstairs. 03. There is a boulder in the sub-room to the right. 04. Push the boulder on top of the first barrier, when the barrier is in down position. 05. Once the boulder is above the barrier, switch the lever to the other side so that it breaks the barrier mechanism. 06. Push the boulder further down to pass. 07. In the middle sub-room, check the sheets of paper on the floor. 08. Go upstairs and check the big library. 14th Room (Shrine) 01. Get the treasures, then go downstairs from the bottom/right. 15th Room (Nef) 01. There are boss fights here. You can look up the boss stats and strengths/weaknesses by pressing SHIFT while targeting them during the battle. 02. You may have a few Burn Oils by now. This item multiplies fire damage by 4. Very efficient when combined with Mihaela's Torch spells. 03. Both Tenebraum and Elisha are susceptible to ALL debuffs so if you have debuffing spells, use them. Particularly true of the ones debuffing MAT and ATK. 04. Kill both bosses. 05. Check the level. It'll explode. This can't be avoided. Heal your characters and go upstairs. 06. Go back downstairs. 07. Check the golden shield on the top wall. 08. Go back upstairs. 16th Room (??????) 01. Sleep in the tents. 02. There is an item in the dry grass patch to the right of the tents. ~.~.~ THIRD AREA (AFTER SLEEPING IN THE TENTS) ~.~.~ 17th & 18th Room (Praying Room & Library) 01. These rooms are optional but you can loot them for items and experience points. 19th Room (??????) 01. After you've crossed the small corridor, you enter a big room. Explore the left side of it before going down the wooden stairs in the middle. 02. Save BEFORE reaching the end of the stairs. There is a fight there, and an important decision to be made. 03. You can either have Mihaela stick with her party or join the other one. Do what you prefer, although the "betray" option makes the upcoming fight easier. 04. Make sure to equip your new party member if you've chosen not to betray. 20th Room (Orc Hideout) 01. You have to go through a lot of galleries with a lot of orcs. 02. Although the 4 areas making the Orc Hideout as a whole are slightly mazey, it won't be difficult if you take the time to explore it all. 03. Look in crates, barrels etc. A lot of items can be found here. 04. In Orc Hideout #3, do not miss the Totem of Immunity that can be found in the small room to the bottom/right. You'll need to switch some levers to make it accessible. 05. Orc Lords and Orc Magnums can be tough opponents but since they have a big armor on, STEEL CORROSION works well on them. You may also want to boost the DEF of your party. 06. When facing groups of minor orcs and goblins, try to use large damaging spells such as Mihaela's Torch LV1 or Ariel's Karma LV3. A Soul Potion can replenish a part of a character's MMP. 21st Room (Botanic Garden) 01. Cockatrices are susceptible to fire, so Torch LV3 can work very well against them. In case Mihaela needs some extra speed, think of the Speed Ring. 02. The fight against Helena and Halvard is totally optional but gives some equipment as a reward. 03. The Golden Ring can be found below the bridge on the river bank. It's good for characters who use LUK: Ariel (with Karma), or Claudius (with Odds). 04. Look for the tombstone at the bottom/left. Check it. Then light the torch nearby. This will open the gate. 22nd Room (Room of Festivities) 01. You have a choice to make. 02. The rogue hits harder than the Paladin. On the other hand, the Paladin is a typical paladin: he can heal and cast support spells. 03. After the choice, switch the lever to the other side of what you've chosen (ie switch it to the left if you picked Rachael, and vice versa). 23rd Room (Hall of Heroes) 01. The jars on both sides at the beginning give an extra level. Use them for your most important character, but check first if that character is close to the next level (in this case kill some extra monsters before using the jars). 02. Badadrook, Nightwing and Helldragger can all be debuffed on most stats. Do it! It's really helpful. 03. If you have McDeath and Cripple Lv4, this skill is great to use against bosses, as it debuffs MHP too. For maximum effect it must be used at turn 1 and if possible before the other characters play. 04. Mihaela's EDGE LV2 on your hardest hitter is also great. 05. As a thumb of rule, check the boss information (using SHIFT when targeting it). 06. Check again this information when a boss has changed appearance (even slightly). It generally means their stats have changed. 07. Take note of the chain to the left, in the section between Nightwing and Helldragger. 08. This chain contains a great piece of "equipment". The downside is that it can't be removed. Therefore, save if you can before pulling on the chain. 09. If one of your characters has the Totem of Immunity, the aforementionned equipment will automatically remove it. 10. The Totem of Immunity protects its holder from the trap in the very next room (see below). ~.~.~ FINAL AREA ~.~.~ 24th Room (Throne Room) 01. Check the crown in front of the throne. 02. Someone will die at random. It can't be Mihaela. It can't be the Totem of Immunity holder. 03. Don't try to reload to change who dies since the random number is decided at the beginning of the game. You can however save the unfortunate character by having them equip the Totem of Immunity. In this case, someone else will die. 04. You are asked to give one item to each character. Of all 4, only the COMPASS allows an escape from the castle. 25th Room (Church) 01. There is another "chain" hanging from one of the left columns, the second from the bottom. 02. Check when Naga Jagga is weaker to hits (low DEF) or to spells (low MDF), depending on its shape. 03. The room to the left contains stuff to loot including a sword that is great for paladins. 26th Room (??????) 01. Before fighting the boss in the middle, check the rooms to the right and the left. 02. The room to the right has a lot of permanent items that you can use. It also has a 3rd "chain" to equip a 3rd character with a powerful spirit. 03. The room to the left has Excalibur, the most powerful sword (and weapon) of the game. 04. Return and face the boss. 05. During the first turn, you should defend, as the boss unleashes its strongest attack. 06. Machine is another boss with high MHP, so CRIPPLE LV4 if you want it (but after turn 1 is over). 07. If Machine reloads its most powerful attack, make sure to have everyone defend against it during the NEXT turn. 27th Room (Courtyard) 01. The veggies on the soil are edible and can replenish your HP/MP/TP. 02. Exit going through the top middle gate. 03. You're out!... or maybe not. Go all the way up and realize you're still not out. 04. Go back to the previous area (Courtyard) and this time go to the left, following the path of grey stones. 28th Room (Inner Garden) 01. Check the treasure chest including one at the beginning that contains the best knife of the game. 02. You have to defeat several of those "lizardmen" here. They are quite resistant to fire, so don't rely on Mihaela's spells. 03. However you can use your hard-hitters and ATK boosts to pound them into submission. 04. Check the tent at the end. You'll find a mummified body and, minutes after, a cross. 05. Go back to the exit and use the cross against the red-eyed shadow in the range of trees. 06. Take note that there'll be two semi-boss fights on your way (unless you've picked Story mode). These are not particularly difficult if you approach them with care (boosting your characters, notably). 29th Room (Marble Hall) 01. This is the last room. You have several optional fights, 1 semi-boss fight against giant lizardmen and 2 boss fights. 02. In both boss fights, Helldragger will appear once you've killed one of the bosses, or damaged both of them enough. 03. Remember this is the end of the game so items such as bombs (including the Nuke Bomb) and powerful damaging items can be used during these fights. 04. Once you've defeated the last boss, talk to the person at the top. 05. You have to comply with the rule: trying to kill the aforementioned person, or trying to rush to the door, will result in death. 06. When asked who to send (key person automatically goes first), you have to send the compass person to progress. The other 2 choices will result in inescapable death for their holders. 07. Follow the way out. Congratulations, you have finished the game! This is the end of this document. We hope it helped you with the game. Thank you for playing.
