Just die, it will restore your health to the max.
You only lose 10% of Gold which at this point is not very important.

Actually made it out alive. Am now trying to unlock some doors in an underwater maze. Hoping for maps soon...

I think I have turned on all of the switches in the underground water place. I'm still swimming around circles. Am I missing something?

A basic hint is to start with the right, then the left part.
In the right part, all switches but one must be switched ON if I remember correctly.
The one you cannot switched ON is one that locks you in.
