If I recall, examining the flame at the top-left of the area was all it took to advance that quest. I believe I went with the Petula/Rosa choice as well, and had no problems.

All I can suggest offhand is to make sure you have v. 1.6 of the game. (Download from Aldorlea again) It should work just fine in the latest release of the game, and I would hazard a guess your problem is related to having an older install of the game.

I have the same problem, and i have version 1,6. I can remember that when i bought Laxius force 1, that it was a little bit tricky to touch the flame, but i cant remember what it was.

EDIT: I found out what was wrong. It was that i played LF1 over one more time, and i havent trigered the quest about holding hands on the fire. So right now i am in chapter four in LF1 for the fourth time, and building up some good savefiles, with all done

with the fire guild use tarabula and rosa they have some great skill to protect the guild
