When I imported my old game from MM2, I lost all items any of my chars had equipped. (Items that were not equipped transferred just fine.)
I then went back to my save from MM2 just before the finish, unequipped everything, saved the game and imported again. Now I have all my items.

But it's a bit strange anyway.

(MM2 was downloaded from bigfishgames, MM3 from here. But there shouldn't be any issues with incompatibility, should there?)

It seems this glitch is still active in the most recent versions of the game. I was wondering where most of my MM2 equipment went... especially the Virtuoso Belt and the Cloud Hat.

as long as it is not in the last version, i should consider myself safe lol

Thank you, I was wondering about that. I'll go back and unequip prior to saving in MM2.

The other thing that happened was all my characters went back to Level 30 and lost skills such as Call Janine, Heal KO, etc.

She lost "Call Jeanne" because Jeanne and Marine had an argument at the end of MM2.

i lost my umbrella while importing

Marine won't be able to use the Umbrella in MM3.
