MM5 and Windows 8

Windows 8 does not like MM5.

I downloaded like normal. Tried to install. Got the message that windows was protecting me and wouldn't install. Got past that. Finally got the enter key screen. Entered the key. Clicked on the box that say launch MM5 from the install.

Machine froze. Froze to the point where I had to use the off button to get the machine back. Got the machine back.
Tried the Run as Administrator option. Machine froze again as bad as before. I did not try again. I didn't get an error message but I had the same problem when I tried to play Epic Quest of the 4 Crystals last week. I never did get it to work
but was not too concerned because I had other things going on. The message that I finally got from it was.

RGSS102E.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact you system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f.

and then

RGSS102E.DLL is not a valid Win32 application

I don't know where to go from here.

I don't get it, cuz I have windows 8 and it works fine on my side.
Are you sure it's not something else not the OS? What are the specs of your computer?

Probably something obvious that I'm missing.

Machine info.

I'm not very computer savvy so I'll ask Zeriab his opinion but tbh I am able to play my games on my Windows 8 and I know he can too... probably something else.

I have windows 8 and is working perfectly fine

Sometimes the issue of some exe not opening may be due to corrupted system file.

Thanks, it's helpful to know it's working fine for someone else. :)

I figured it out. It had to do with the file permissions in the install folder. Once that was fixed it ran fine.

Hi Dee - I also am having a problem running this game in Windows 8. I have only downloaded the demo. My error reads as: "RGSS player has stopped working". Can you tell me how you corrected your error in detail as I'd like to see if it fixes my problem. Thanks.

I have Windows 8 and the game works fine.

I am playing in hard mode with invisible monsters and 150% faster battles.

I really liked the intro of the game. It creates a lot of suspense and excitement so far.

Nice job on this RPG Indinera. It is the "Battle of the Millennium" for sure. +::YAY +::fear +::Thumbup
