I bought the game before I downloaded it. ( Ive been waiting so long )

When I try to download I get a message--- " This file contains invalid data "

The download seems to be continuing but I don't want to find problems after I have started to play.

What can I do please?

I think at least give it a second attempt. Sometimes a file doesn't download properly.

I have tried 5 times now. I get this message each time -- but at a different point during the download.

Can you please try to download MM4 instead so we can identify if the pb comes from MM5 specifically?

MM4 downloaded perfectly.

I have also tried rebooting my computer. It has made no difference.

What now please.

Oh dear!

I eventually managed to download from the file you sent me. ( thanks for that )

I imported from MM4. started the game and saved ok. BUT

There is no desktop icon and I can't find the game anywhere on my computer. MM2 3 and 4 are there.

I can't download again --- sendspace says the allocation is used.

When I opened the link to the download there were options to download Livid installer --- did I need to do that? There was a long list of folders in the zip file --- I only clicked the exe. file.

Can you help please?

you need to install what i sent you on your desktop for a more convenient use, and then enter the main folder of the game and click on MM5.exe to start it. :)

ok. I have done that but I don't think I have got it right.

The desktop icon takes me to the exe. file and i get a message from winzip saying this is not free software and in 40 days I will have to purchase it to continue use.

I then have to click on the exe. file and wait for it to load the game. Very long winded and clumsy and it looks like I might lose the game in 40 days.

I don't think this is right. I am not very tech savvy and need step by step help please. Sorry for the trouble.

Hi!

Hope it's ok I'm butting in... but Indy did ask me to keep an eye over here and saying I'm familiar with MM5 is probably an understatement!

Anyways...

Open the zip file and when you see the MM5 folder inside, just drag it out into your desktop! You'll no longer be dependent on the winzip program after that!

Wherever you install the game you can then enter its folder and right-click the exe file and choose "send to". Pick the desktop option and it'll create a shortcut there!

Hope this helps!

PS - As a sidenote if you're looking for a freeware program to open zip files try the B1 archiver, it's open source and has the same features as winrar or winzip.

You need to right-click with your mouse on the file RAR file and pick "open here" or whatever is the correct wording, so to extract the archive, before you can play the game.

Phew! Done it at last. Ended up with 4 shortcuts but now 1 of them takes me directly to the game.

Thanks for your help and sorry to be so dumb.
So looking forward to playing. +::biggrin
