Game does not launch

I have successfully downloaded and installed the demo. When I try to launch the game I keep getting this error: "RGSS player has stopped working.", and the game does not launch. I am running Windows 8. Help.

Two things you may want to try first:
1) restart your computer and see if the game launches normally after that
2) it could be the game file got corrupted while downloading, so maybe you can try re-downloading and re-installing the game again!

I think Dee had a similar problem.
Maybe try to see if there is nothing you can take from it:
viewtopic.php?f=208&t=8344W8 works perfectly for me...

Tried both of these things to no avail. Read the other thread regarding the problem Dee was having. It is not he same problem, but am willing to try the fix anyway. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Other things I've tried: Running in administrator mode - nothing. Running a compatibility test and changing to the suggested Windows XP Service Pack 3 - nothing - in fact this caused the .exe to do nothing at all, including give me an error message - just refused to open at all. Still seeking help on this. Thanks in advance.

Use Windows Explorer, find the folder where the program is installed. In mine, it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Millennium 5.
Highlight the Millenium 5 folder and right click and select Properties.
Go to the Security tab. Highlight the name you are signed in to the computer with. Hit the Edit button.
When the next screen comes up, put check marks in the boxes giving the name you will play with Full Control. I checked every box except Special Permissions.
Hit Apply and exit the Properties screen.
I rebooted at this point but you may not need to.
After I did this the game worked fine.
