Piu Piu disappears

In the prehistoric cave, when the team emerge onto lily pads, Piu Piu has gone and he's not in the inventory. I've tried several party groups but he still goes.
Is this an anomaly?

I don't know at which point of the game you are, but lil Piu is with the Ancient Temple team later, so maybe he just decided to leave you, lol.
I don't remember though having lost him there.

Yes, Piu leaves the Cave team and joins the temple team without any heads up...

Piu-Piu must have thought he was going to enjoy it better in the ancient temple with Norman and Gravitron.
