Release date in August

The 30th to be exact.

August is my historical month with many games released including the entire Laxius Force trilogy (which Forever Heroes will be the closest to).

In the meantime I've got a couple of great games announced (including the recent Shattered Worlds) to make you wait.

45 sidequests planned (35 made) and 80 secret rooms!

Wish me luck (and courage and motivation!)

I wish you luck... and courage and motivation ... just like you asked +::biggrin

Considering you will also add a "dark angel and thomas" mode along with so many secret rooms and side quests ... this will probably be very epic - close to laxius force series ... and considering laxius force didn't have a mode beyond normal mode - it creates something unique.

There are so many sidequests and items that if you do everything, even the hardest mode isn't that hard imo.
Maybe I could add even harder but... then the beginning becomes quite grindy... +::Dunno
(because at the beginning of course you haven't had the chance to complete any sidequest or find any "interesting" secret).

80 secret rooms?! +::O_o
This must be a record...

I believe that this is possibly the most rewarding thing for completing the secrets. The fact that you are more prepared for the danger ahead...
In this, the ultra hard modes make more sense for more linear games...

One way to avoid the grind is to not make enemies respawn ... assuming it's visible encounters ... I always try to avoid killing the same enemies twice if they respawn in visible encounter games - my own personal challenge to make it even harder. That's why I loved King's heroes with that special maniac mode where enemies were dead for good.

Aha thanks. Even 45 sidequests has a potential to be a record, although the LF series certainly had a lot of them.
But truth be told, regarding secret rooms, I think Asguaard had more.

As I complete all of them (logically enough...), I do get very strong. Trying to add bosses here and there to make it all valuable. 8)

It's visible. But I want to make my areas visitable several times, and no respawn means that it becomes dull as hell (imo at least). So instead you get what I like doing: partial respawn. About half of the monsters go forever, and half respawn.

Yup this was an interesting mode but I designed it because in TKH you had party choice early on.
It's not the case in FoHe so it's less interesting to test your strategic choices.

What he said. +::Thumbup

End of August is fine with me. It's the beginning of Autumn, with shorter days - a season I always look forward to - so the game will come in just the right time for me. :)

Nice to hear!
I already have my modes of difficulty ready but I'm thinking to add "special (xtrem) modes", one for you and one for the other two.

Like Heaven & Hell, or maybe just Story & Extreme.
I still have the problem that Extreme will be, ahem, extremely grindy at the beginning... +::Dunno

Partial respawn is my favorite as well. While I don't mind grinding to some extent, and actually my lack of sophisticated battle strategy relies upon grinding, it can be really tedious to have to fight monsters every 10 or 20 steps just to revisit an area. So this approach seems perfect to me. Really looking forward to the release. Sending so much good karma your way. +::wizard

About the partial respawn - something new you could do... that I don't think I saw is scaling the monsters up to heroes level when they come back - for example if you beat some monsters in a level 10 area and then you have to come back to that area when you are level 25 - the partially respawned monsters should also be level 25 now or something like that... so that they don't die in one hit.

About the extreme mode and extreme grinding in the beginning - don't worry about it - I am sure I will find a way to not really grind (a.k.a secret skills pulled out of my magic bag with magic strategies invented by me) +::Dance +::Dance

I know about this system but... I'm not such a big fan of it. Because I like world cohesion in a game, and it's not really realistic that monsters would "grow" as you grow.

When you just have... 1 skill to choose from, it's hard to come up with magic strategies. I'm tempted to put that extreme mode and see you suffer (at least early on), mwahahahah! +::biggrin
That said it's really just that, grindy. Monsters at the beginning, like your charas, don't do much, so they aren't really threatening, just require more time, more healing etc.

I personally hate the "monster scaling" (like in Oblivion) system. This is a thing that depends on the player's motivation, though.
I do not really like tough battles just because they are tough. At least this is not my primary motivation.
Instead, I just love feeling like a mighty hero. I.e. battling the super-powerfull boss one hundred times, receiving the super-powerfull sword and then unleashing its rage on the poor enemies is awesome.
But defeating dragons, saving kingdoms and then getting killed by a "level 100 wolf" in the beginner's location does not feel heroic at all.

If I understood it right, darkange, you are more the "strategy lover", i.e. enjoying the challenge itself - right?

Yeah ... at first I also loved the feeling of being super powerful - like you get in a lot of RPGs ... but at some point I started loving the challenge more - like in dark soul games . Who knows what I would love in 2 years from now on ... my wishes and likes changed a lot in the last 10 years.
