I can't find the quicksand area of Toad Swamp that people have mentioned. Is this something that's accessible only before you get Abu? I'm past that point now, too far to go back to a save point.

Nope, it should also be accessible after you've got Abu. From the entrance go one screen east and on that screen jump south to the brown chest. You should instantly sink through the quicksand (say hi to Bokden for me).

it's in one of the "useless" parts of the swamp...
