Are you sure you triggered the quest at the Fighter's Guild?
If so you first have to talk to Caruhl in Moormore. He'll tell you something about the zombie. Then go to Darmar's house to the right. There should only be his skull now. When you leave the house again I think I remember that it's darker now and then after some time Yves should attack you.

Make sure you've talked to everyone in town about Yves. It doesn't hurt to double back and talk to everyone again, even the ones the walkthrough doesn't mention. It's possible that there was one extra trigger somewhere that was missed in the walkthrough.

Once you've talked to everyone, Yves seems to attack at a specific location on the map rather than at random. I believe there was a patch of torches spread across roughly the mid-town center. Walk around that specific area, and you should run into Yves easily, assuming you've talked to everyone in town that you needed to.

Sarah is not required for Yves to attack. She can just be useful with her Sun Boomer spell.
It's kinda strange. If you saw the skull Yves should be there. I think he attacks somewhere on the main path (when you walk up and down past the inn).

You might try downloading LF2 from Aldorlea here again; make sure your copy is up-to-date. Beyond that I can't think of anything else that would help. I'm not aware of any issues with the quest and I don't recall anyone else having a similar issue.

Just to be absolutely sure, after you have seen the skull, go up to the Chapel and speak to the NPC (forgotten his name) at the back who tells you that he's seen the zombie walking around the centre of town. Now go back out and more or less in the middle, someone in the party (Random?) says that the zombie isn't around, and then it attacks.
