Lost trying to find the institute

Can someone please point me in the right direction to the institute , I have been looking for hours for the log I am supposed to jump over but I guess I must be blind. I am at the beginning when titanic is starting to chase us. And how do I get to the snowy fields? My brain is dragging and I need all the help I can get. Thanks in advance
