I mentioned LF3 as an example how many saves would be actually necessary. Because there's only 15 in LF, you need to copy them in separate directiories and keep them there. This way you can rewrite the saves in save file folder, but in case you need to go back and you already rewrited the particular save, you just recover it from the backup.
It's pretty much standard for LF and Indi's games in general (it's one of the reasons why they are called
tricky, you know...

). I learned it the hard way in LP1 back then - i needed to retreat back and didn't have an old enough save...

(Tbh, instead of replaying the game I solved it by editing the enemy stats

, but it isn't that easilly possible with LF.)
