Lottery ticket

I didn't win either.
What I did was
Give the old man some money (I think it was 5 coins in the end)
Spoke to the girl with the orb top left in the lottery house
breathed in the purple flame
spoke to the clown(?) who told me that this was my lucky day
petted the cat maybe 3 times
only then used the luck boost.

I suspect I should have used the luck boost before doing all those things.

I just checked if the number on the ticket changes if you don't do anything different ... only buy and then reload the save and buy again - and the number changes everytime - first I got 840 ... then I reloaded the save and it gave me 158 then 410 and so on ... completely random and different - so it's impossible to predict if you can win based on the number on the ticket.

The big question is if the winning ticket has the same number everytime in every game ... if somebody else remembered what number it was as a win ? IN my game the guy said the lucky number was 252

I don't remember the exact details, or which was the winning number and which was my number, but one was 700+ and the other was 800+, so quite different from yours.

So it's oficial ... impossible to predict ... different number everytime - nobody will get this quest - the trickster have bested us all ... I rest my case 8)

Now we pray for trickster mercy so he gives us an aditional clue if he wants.

Here's an interested thought to muddle it all. Should the Luck boost be used before buying the ticket or just before winning the prize? Does either make more sense than the other?

I didn't think you got the Luck potion until it was time to win. I guess I'm wrong?

You know Indi is laughing his butt off over this. +::biggrin +::biggrin

I've managed to get a ticket that matches the number I get in the inn. I'm not at quest 24 yet, so I can't confirm that it will work, but fingers crossed.

I think a number is randomly generated when you first enter Deckersville, and from that point on, nothing you do before you talk to the guy in the inn will change it. If you restart from a point before you first enter the town, I think you would probably get a different number from the one you had before. In the attempt where I matched the number, it was 635, but I don't think you need to get that number to succeed.

yeah... it's different for everybody : it was 421 or something for me... your theory makes sense ... it should work ... but you will only find out waaay later

On one failed attempt, I talked to the guy who told me to buy a lottery ticket after I had it, and he said I couldn't have the winning ticket because he had it. On the attempt where I matched my ticket number and the number I got from the inn, he didn't say that, so that might be a good sign.

I see ... now the question is : can you reproduce the steps that made you get the same number on the dude list ?
I assume it didn't involve petting the cat

Here's what I did:
Spoiler: show
I talked to both heroes to get the luck boosts, I gave the guy money for the jet ski, I gave 5 coins to the bald guy, and inside the lottery house I only talked to people who were sure I was going to win (both clowns, the lady with the crystal ball) and the guy with the lucky smoke. I also read the "live, love, luck" sign. I talked to the girl who asked if I was going to buy a ticket, but I don't know if that was important. I didn't talk to anyone else. I used the fortune boost, then remembered the guy at the bottom who tells you about the lottery and realized I hadn't talked to him yet, so I left and did that with the fortune boost already applied.

Then I saved before buying my ticket. Every time I got the wrong number I reloaded and bought my ticket again. I got the right number on about the 5th try, so either I did enough to get the ticket in a few tries or I got really lucky.

I had saved as soon as I came in Deckersville, and on this attempt I forgot to talk to the guy in the inn until after I bought my ticket, but since the number doesn't change once you enter the town, I already knew what it was. I don't kno if that helped or not.

Spoiler: show
I believe the heroes are Marcus and Fela. Every time you find a hero, the characters get a small permanent boost.
