MM3: visible or invisible encounters?

Postby Indinera » Sat Feb 20, 2010 7:30 pm

MM1 and 2 had invisible ones and allowed Marine to decide if she would hide from or provoke them.
Dreamscape will have visible monsters.

Shall I switch to visible monsters for MM3? Obviously if I go for it, Marine won't be able anymore to alter the frequency of fighting.
Please vote in the poll AND post to explain your preference.
Thanks!

Invisible, It's more fun to play like this, with surprises and all. and like that why would be useful Marine Hide or Fight skill? +::grrr +::YAY

The surprise is in the invisibility. But I love the fact of being able to choose encounter rate. Now THAT HELPS a great deal. Visible is okay, too, but not for MM series. You've started with invisibility, please continue +::fear +::fear +::fear

I think that both visible and invisible encounters are ok, thous I would keep it as it is for MM3. Random fights + setting encounter rate was definitively enjoyable in MM so far, thus there is simply no reason to change this.

I enjoy both, to be honest you were the one who made me start to enjoy the invisible monsters!

I think it would make better sense to have the whole saga in the same style as you started it!

Plus Marine's "Hide or Fight" skill was really useful to regulate the encounter rate that best suits each of our own gameplay styles! +::Thumbup

Oops, I made a mistake and meant to select Invisible for the reasons that Ladybug mentioned above. It would make sense to continue along the lines of invisible encounters and being able to set your encounter rate. For continuity and fluidity, Millenium works perfectly as it is.

However, I think to create a cute new series with visible monsters (where you are still able to level up), personally I think that would be extremely popular and profitable. I think given your stunning visual treatments and creativity with a neat story, well I would be happy to bet on it's success. :)

Well,I usually prefer visible encounters, but I got used to invisible ones while playing MM/MM2.I think there's no need to change it now, especially with Dreamscape coming up. :)
And Marine's skill to change their frequency is hilarious,I'd really miss that one if you would go and change. And anyway, the fights are not that difficult in this game for us to feel need of dodging them. +::Thumbup
So invisible encounters for presid...ahem...MM3! +::biggrin

I have to go with invisible also. I really like being able to set up the encounter rate, especially if I'm going back somewhere and just want to get there (or get out of there! +::whistle ) +::biggrin

Hi,

Have you thought about doing a poll for upcoming games for members on their preference for visible, invisible or a combination of both (not in the same game)? I think that it would be interesting to see what comes up. Personally I would prefer your future games to have combination. I like Laxius Force and Millenium as invisible but I would also like to see more visible encounters in other games and series.

I like the surprise of the invisible monsters. It's also fun to not know exactly what will attack you next... like those creepy skull crab things. Part of the fun is not knowing when, where, or what will attack and having to prepare for the unexpected.

I'm glad many people speak in favor of invisible encounters, which I happen to like.

Anyway, I'll see what I will do.

I personally like the visible one, but where your games are concerned...I expect the invisible ones. That's the charm with your games +::lol

A lot depends upon the manner the game has been developed. I think MM1 and MM2 operate best without the knowledge of whom you are about to fight.

OTOH, series such as Aveyond and a few others by other companies do better with visible encounters. I guess it depends upon the style of the programmer/designer and the battle engine employed.

I don't have a strong view one way or another.
