I made both though so I guess you could oppose LF1/2 vs MM1/2 and see what you like best - unless they are on par.

I think invisible/random encounters work well in the context of Millennium. That Marine can control the encounter rate is a great feature that I wish more RPGs with random encounters had. Never felt too high or too low. I could raise it if I wanted to build levels and lower it if I just wanted to get through a place.

Visible encounters are fine and I often prefer them, but some games don't do them right. Sometimes the enemies are near impossible to avoid and/or respawn too quickly.

I'm all about whatever works in a game and keeps it fun and balanced. I mean, I could say I prefer visible enemies, yet some of my all time favorite RPGs used random encounters.

I think that MM3 should definitely keep invisible encounters.
Whether you should also add visible encounters I dunno. I'm kinda impartial

well i still choose the monsters to be invisible. but how about this since i know not all of us have the same opinion i think there should be a visibility option or it can be set in the difficulty of something, a easy or visible option will show the monster clearly, the medium or foggy will maybe show as a shadowy or transparent like figure with glowing red eyes or something like that and the hard or invisible option will not show any monster at sight. it would add more choices to the game options and the players can set it in their preferred settings.

example of shadowy type monsters.

Too many possibilities could become dangerous to control and result to glitches though.

Don't suppose there could be an option for stealthy/brazen opponents instead? I love the surprise factor of invisible enemies, but when I'm heading back through an area I've visited a dozen times, I get reeeeeaaaallly annoyed with the constant stop-and-go, especially when I'm at higher levels. The tiny fights kind of become a nuisance for me.

In MM you get to pass previously visited places though.

I'm a fan of the way you had LF set up...where most of the time they were visible, and only invisible in some areas...that way you can choose how often you would like to fight! :)
